No Survivors Reportedly for Crash Landing of Helicopter Carrying Iran's President; Int'l Oil Prices Stable

On the afternoon of 19 May local time, in bad weather, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, as well as the Foreign Minister and other accompanying personnel was involved in an accident in the Varzaqan area of East Azerbaijan Province, Iran.

The Iranian rescue team used drones to probe the helicopter accident site. Rescuers said the helicopter's propeller and cockpit were burned, and they were unable to detect temperature through thermal imaging.

The latest news from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting today (20 May) said that there is no sign of survivors through the search of the accident area.

International oil prices were steady and traded slightly higher in electronic trading hours. New York Oil futures for June delivery trade now at US$80.12 per barrel, incrementing less than 0.1%. Brent Oil futures for July delivery trade now at US$84.11 per barrel, rising 0.15%.
