US stocks closed higher on Monday after Hamas announced that it had accepted the terms of a cease-fire proposal by mediators to end its war with Israel, which pushed stocks higher in afternoon trading.
S&P 500 closed rising 52 points or 1% at 5,180. DJIA closed lifting 176 points or 0.5% at 38,852. Nasdaq closed mounting 192 points or 1.2% at 16,349.
American Airlines (AAL.US) surged nearly 6%, while Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US) hiked 6%, becoming one of the best-performing stocks in the S&P 500. Tesla (TSLA.US) rose 2%.
AI and chip stocks led the rally, with Micron Technology (MU.US) lifting about 5% after broker upgrades, making it the best-performing component in the Nasdaq 100. NVIDIA (NVDA.US) closed rising nearly 4%, while AMD (AMD.US) inclined 3%.
